Even though it has relatively basic features, the RCA RCD152 boom box sounds good and proves to be a smart value. This boom box is short on bells and whistles, but it makes the most of what it has.
The RCD152 has a front-loading CD player and a top-loading cassette player/recorder, as well as a digital AM/FM tuner. The disc player is compatible with CD-R/RW, but it will not play MP3 or other digital audio files. It has a 20-track programmable memory, as well as the standard repeat and shuffle playback modes. The cassette recorder includes an automatic level control that helps prevent overload distortion and tape noise when you're making home recordings. The tuner has presets for 10 AM and 10 FM stations, and the RCD152 can automatically store stations in the preset memory.
The internal amplifier provides 2.5 watts to each of the two 4-inch full-range speakers. The RCD152 won't blow you away with its sound levels, but it is acceptable for a small boom box. There is a dynamic bass boost and four preset equalizer curves, so you are able to customize the sound to a certain degree. The RCD152 has an easy-to-read LCD display that shows information such as track number, station frequency, volume, track playing time and more. The package also includes a handy remote control. The RCD152 isn't flashy, but it will serve you well in a bedroom or small office.
