The magnesium alloy used for the EOS-1V is lightweight, yet possesses exceptional strength. This new material is hard to machine and was initially thought to be unsuitable for molding the delicate curved surfaces of the EOS body. Canon
solved this problem with the application of 'thixo-molding', an advanced injection molding technology. This lightweight body is the perfect blend of rigidity, durability and total precision.
